BioNanoSeries2026 will feature a dedicated topical collection in Microchimica Acta, guest-edited by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Alberto Escarpa, showcasing selected works presented at the conference. All submissions will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process.
We are pleased to welcome you to #BioNanoSeries2026 in Dresden, Germany, a city renowned for its strong scientific environment, world-class research institutions, and technological innovation. Dresden provides an inspiring setting for scientific dialogue, collaboration, and new partnerships.
The meeting takes place from September 30–October 2, 2026, at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), part of TU Dresden (Technische Universität Dresden). BioNanoSeries 2026 will be hosted at CRTD and organized in collaboration with leadership from Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and TU Dresden, uniting researchers, innovators, and industry leaders at the intersection of nanotechnology and life sciences.
BioNanoSeries 2026 features a series of thematic sessions and symposia designed to spark scientific dialogue across the rapidly evolving fields of bio-nanoscience and nanotechnology. These sessions bring together researchers, clinicians, engineers, and industry experts to share emerging discoveries, explore new ideas, and build collaborations.
While the themes outlined below highlight key areas of focus, we encourage participants to think beyond traditional boundaries and contribute fresh perspectives that will enrich the discussion and help shape the future of bio–nano research and innovation.
Thematic Focus:
This symposium explores the design, synthesis, and functional integration of bio-nano hybrid materials engineered for biomedical and translational applications. Emphasis will be placed on nanostructured biomaterials, biointerfaces, surface functionalization strategies, stimuli-responsive systems, and advanced scaffolds for tissue engineering. Contributions addressing mechanobiology, nanoscale characterization, and the interaction of materials with biological systems are particularly encouraged.
Thematic Focus:
This symposium focuses on strategies to increase the safety and sustainability of bionanomaterials for next-generation medical technologies. Topics include biodegradable polymers, transient electronics, sustainable nano-enabled implants, and resorbable biomedical systems. Discussions will highlight lifecycle considerations, eco-design principles, and the development of implantable devices that balance performance, safety, and sustainability, including Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches.
Thematic Focus:
Dedicated to nanoscale sensing and bioelectronic technologies, this symposium covers advanced biosensors, implantable and wearable sensing systems, neural interfaces, nanoelectrode arrays, micro-total analysis systems (µTAS), and lab-on-chip diagnostic platforms for applications in food, environment, and health. Emphasis will be placed on real-time monitoring, signal transduction mechanisms, multimodal sensing, microfluidics, and integration with digital health ecosystems for precision medicine.
Thematic Focus:
This symposium examines the emerging role of nanorobotics and soft robotic systems in healthcare and industry. Topics include autonomous microscale robots, smart actuation mechanisms, on-board sensing capabilities, minimally invasive interventions, and robotic-assisted therapies. The session aims to bridge materials innovation, microfabrication, sensing integration, and clinical translation.
Thematic Focus:
Focusing on advanced microphysiological systems, this symposium addresses organ-on-chip platforms, disease modeling, and high-throughput screening technologies. Contributions exploring biomimetic microenvironments, fluid dynamics, tissue–device integration, and translational applications in drug discovery and personalized medicine are especially welcome. This symposium will also delve into New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), which are innovative technologies and methods developed to replace, reduce, or refine traditional animal testing, offering more human-relevant and predictive outcomes for chemical hazard and risk assessment. NAMs encompass various approaches, including in chemico and in vitro systems like organoids and microphysiological systems
Thematic Focus:
This symposium explores nano-enabled therapeutic strategies for precision medicine. Topics include smart nanocarriers, controlled and stimuli-responsive release systems, targeted oncology and infectious disease therapies, gene and RNA delivery platforms, and translational pathways from laboratory innovation to clinical application.
We invite researchers, innovators, and industry experts to contribute to the techncial program of #BioNanoSeries2026. If you have a strong topic, you can propose a thematic session, symposium, or interactive workshop that brings new perspectives to the conference.
Our team will work closely with you and fully support the marketing and coordination to ensure your symposium reaches the right audience and becomes a successful part of the program.
